I knew I was making major progress in my life when I put down a boundary with my mother, which was long overdue. After I laid down this boundary, I was feeling proud of myself for finally having the courage to do so.
The time had finally come when I said to my mother, “You can’t just hang up the phone on me because I said something you don’t like. I’m not a piece of shit. I think you should apologize to me.”
Well, that bit of hutzpah turned into about five weeks of silent treatment and no apology. Was I surprised? No. But Grammarly was.
And no, I didn’t feel bad for speaking my mind and asking for a little respect, even though I knew what the consequences would be.
I am brave! I deserve respect! People like me!
Later that same week, as I checked my inbox, I opened up my weekly report from Grammarly. Yay! Another vocabulary badge!
